NorthWestern Energy upgrading natural gas transmission pipeline near Helena

NorthWestern Energy is upgrading approximately 5.5 miles of natural gas transmission pipeline west of Birdseye Road, from the Silver City area near Lincoln Highway south to the Helena Junction area. The project will strengthen the natural gas infrastructure serving our customers.

The project replaces existing 40-year-old natural gas transmission pipeline within the current pipeline easement. 

Project overview

  • Location: West of Birdseye Road, from the Silver City area near Lincoln Highway to Helena Junction
  • Project Length: Approximately 5.5 miles
  • Construction Timeline: Began in July and anticipated to be complete by mid-October
  • Purpose: Replace aging natural gas transmission pipeline and strengthen the natural gas system serving customers

Restoration

Once construction is complete and the upgraded pipeline is installed, NorthWestern Energy will restore the project area.

By upgrading this section of pipeline, NorthWestern Energy is strengthening the infrastructure customers depend on for safe and reliable natural gas service.
